Booklist Review
Professional wrestling is hard to categorize: part sport, part theater, part morality play. Most matches are staged to allow the wrestlers to show off their skills and enlarge the personalities of the characters that they play. This encyclopedic treatment of the hugely popular spectacle contains 100 entries, almost all of which are biographies of well-known wrestlers. Each entry covers the wrestler's life story, rise to fame, and life out of the ring. Every entry also contains a bibliography of additional sources. A few entries are not biographical, covering topics such as wrestling arenas, governing bodies, championships, and halls of fame. This serious look into the fantasy world of professional wrestling will please its fans.--David Tyckoson Copyright 2019 Booklist
